MIscellany Monday

Miscellany Monday @ lowercase letters

Linking up with Carissa again for another Miscellany Monday!  I had so much fun last week I'm going to try to make it a weekly topic for me!   Sorry in advance for the lack of photos in today's post.

{one}
My son has wayyyy too many toys!  They are starting to spread everywhere in our house.  I think our house has become ONE HUGE TOYBOX!  Do any of you have houses like this?  Are your child's toys overtaking your house???

{two}
The hubby and I will soon be doing some major shopping for our bedroom rennovation stuff and I cannot wait!  Love to shop for house improvement items!  Yippie!

{three}
Our weekend was jam packed!  Lots of good family time and time at home on Sunday to recover from Friday night/Saturday day.

{four}
I am ready for a new purse.  My last purse was purchased for my birthday in 2009 and I think I am due for a new one.  I may have to wait until Mother's Day to ask for such a big treat, but I'm thinking way ahead this year!!!

{five}
Next Monday is my third wedding anniversary!!!  I have zero thoughts about what we should do to celebrate.  Any ideas??  I think I might finally be ready for a night away from Cooper, so I'm thinking we should get a hotel room and go away for a night....  Just to plan where and when.  Hmmmm........

Hope you have a wonderful Monday and great week everyone!

The last snow...............................hopefully!

Well, I was hoping they were bluffing, but alas, they weren't and we got 3-4 more inches of snow last night AFTER the rain/sleet/ice we had earlier in the evening.

I brought the camera with me this morning so I took a few photos along the way.  Hubby was driving, no one was endangered when these photos were taken!  It was just becoming daylight and it was kinda early so that is why the light in these are kinda weird.  Enjoy!

Have a great weekend all!

Handwriting Challenge!

Ever since I saw Caroline's "Write it Down" post I knew I just had to participate!  Too bad it's taken almost a week!!  Basically all you have to do is write down the answers to the following questions:

1. What's your name / blogger name?
2. What's your blog's URL?
3. Write "The quick fox jumps over the lazy dog."
4. Favorite quote?
5. Your favorite song?
6. Your favorite band / singers?
7. Anything else you want to say?
8. Tag 3 - 5 other people.

So, here's my handwriting, it's definitely sloppy, but this was fun and I hope you'll all join in!

Thankful Thursday

{source}
 Today is another Thursday, another day to be thankful for all of the blessings in our lives.  When I think about all that I have to be thankful for, I am overjoyed at all our Lord has done.

I'm thankful this Thursday for:

My wonderful family.  I am sooooooooo blessed to have such a great family to support me in everything I do.  I condsider these folks to be part of "team emily."  These family members have my back in life and I'm so very happy to have them!  I'm on their side in everything in life too!

My marriage.  I am such a lucky woman to have such a great man in my life.  We've been through a lot in the nearly three years of our marriage and we're holding on strong.  I know that together we are stronger than we are apart and we can make it through anything!

A great job.  I may sit on my butt and work on spreadsheets most of the day, but it's a job that I enjoy and am so happy with.  I've been at my employer in several different roles for the past 6.5 years.  I hope through these downed economical times that I can make it another 6.5 years or longer! :)

{source}

Now one that is totally ridiculous..................

PIZZA!  I love pizza, and not just a little bit, but A TON.  I could eat it everyday and I don't think I could get sick of it.  It's just delish!  Pepperoni is my fave, but I can go with lots of other toppings too, I'm not too picky when it comes to pizza!  My favorite is a local chain called Hot Box Pizza.  If you're ever in Indy or Raleigh, NC, South Bend, IN or Denton, TX, you've got to check it out.

That's it, those are the things I"m thankful for this week.
What are you thankful for this Thankful Thursday?

What I'm Loving Wednesday

So happy it's Wednesday again!  Linking up with Jamie for WILW!  Head on over and link up!

I'm loving that we bit the bullet and bought the Dyson!

I'm loving that between Snapfish and Shutterfly I can almost always get free 4x6 prints!  I normally go with Shutterfuly I must admit, yet Snapfish has some great deals here and there and I am a bargain shopper so I go where I can save the $$$.

I'm loving how much my son is enjoying Sesame Street!
Sesame Street was my favorite when I was little, I LOVED Big Bird.  Cooper seems to love Elmo like all little ones these days, and if Elmo makes him happy, it makes me happy too!

I'm loving this sweet little boy.  My sweet baby Cooper.

And last, and certainly not least, I'm loving my dear goofy husband.

What are you loving this Wednesday?

Top Two Tuesday

Today over with Taylor, is Top 2 Tuesday, things you've learned from parents or grandparents!

I have the best parents and grandparents a girl can have and I've learned so much, so only choosing two things is going to be difficult!

First here are a couple of pictures!  These are of my parents and grandparents!

My Mom, Me, Grandma (Mom's Mom) and Cooper!
My Dad, Me, Grandpa (Dad's Dad), Grandma & Cooper!

I never knew my Dad's mom, and my Mom's dad passed when I was a senior in high school.  I miss him very much and wish that I could have met my Grandma Smith, but Kieran has been a great grandmother to me for most of my life and I am thankful for her and that I've had so much time with all of my grandparents!  Now onto what I've learned!

1) From my parents:  Respect, Consideration, and Love.  I know I'm cheating, three things in one, but I just cannot help it.  These are things that my folks really taught me and I appreciate having learned them.  Respect is something that seems to be missing in this world along with consideration of other people.  I think that when we consider how others feel, thing, etc it can make a great impact on our lives.  Finally LOVE.  I have been so fortunate to have been taught love by parents who love me to pieces!  I can only hope to pass this along to my child!

2) From my grandparents:  Hard work, Dedication, BEING SPOILED, and Patiotism.  Both of my grandpa's were the two most hard working people I have ever met.  My Grandpa Smith never quits, never slows down and is amazing to me!  My grandparents also taught me dedication.  Mostly to IU basketball as they are all GIANT fans, but also to anything I commit to, we must be dedicated to something to make it happen.  Lastly, patriotism.  My Grandpa Heil was a soldier and taught all of us grandchildren how important being a supporter of the USA.   I learned the art of being spoiled by my grandma.  She always knew what to do to make us grandkids completely spoiled rotten and I think that's a job meant for grandmothers!

I just love this TTT and cannot wait to read about your top things that you learned from your parents or grandparents!!

Have a great day!

Miscellany Monday @ lowercase letters

{one}
laundry day in the johnson household is thursday.  i've been doing laundry every thursday since the beginning of football season 2010.  its been successful, i highly recommend it.  we don't have to spend our entire weekend working on laundry anymore and i love it.

{two}
i've been thinking about dying my hair again.  i did this for 10+ years from high school through college and after.  then, before i got married, i stopped.  i haven't done anything except get a spiral perm and haircuts since then.  i hated the perm.  yuck.  i hope i'm smart enough to never do it again.  but color.  i want that again.  i just don't want the maintenance of keeping up with it.   what is a girl to do?

{three}
the hubby and i are getting ready to start trying for baby #2 and it sorta scares me to death.  what if i won't love this baby as much as Cooper?  i mean how could i?  Cooper is so amazing, i cannot imagine loving another child as much as my baby boy.  my mom swears that the amount of love grows and somehow you can do it.  tell me, is this true?

{four}
i love diet snapple lemon tea.  i recently found it in a 1/2 gallon bottles at walmart.  its great.

{five}
we are thinking of upgrading the tv in our main tv area.  we have a 42" now and we are thinking about a 55"  doesn't seem like such a huge difference, but we want to move the 42" to our bedroom once the bedroom rennovations are complete.  is 42" in the bedroom crazy?  who knows, guess we won't know until we try.

well i hope everyone who reads this enjoyed my first miscellany monday post.  thank you for reading and have a good first day of the week!

Dyson DC25 All Floors

So this is the vacuum we’ve decided on.  We’re excited.  We can’t wait.  It's ordered and it'll be here in about a week.  And it's all so that we can clean our floors.  We’re nuts right?  Oh well.  We just bought the steam mop of our dreams a few weeks back, now we need something to vacuum with!  Our vacuum cleaner is about to hit the dust, so here we go Dyson!

I just have to say, I.LOVE.KOHLS.  Because of a 30% discount from Kohl’s we’re going to save $165 on this baby!

Do you have a Dyson?  Which one do you have?  Do you love it?  Do you have the ball?  Let me know your thoughts!!

Emily = Absent

I've been a terrible, horrible, awful blogger lately.  I just cannot find the time.  That's a crappy excuse, I know.  I have been using mose of my evenings for playing with my son, cleaning our house, and walking on my treadmill.  I think these things are important.  So I'm doing them.  But I miss communicating with you all!  I miss participating in link ups and I generally miss reading about what's going on out in the world and in your lives!

The ONE thing I love about my iPhone is that I have an RSS reader and I'm able to read some of your blogs, at least the ones that have the entire post available through reader.  I'm thankful for those of you who do!  I miss commenting and I hope to come back into the blogging world very soon.

I hope you are all doing well and cannot wait to get back and connected with you soon.  Have a great weekend!

What I’m Loving Wednesday!

It’s Wednesday again already!  Yay!  Once hump day is over the week really seems to fly by!  I love that.
Today I’m so happy about life I cannot wait to share a few things I’m loving!

I’m loving that our taxes are complete for 2010!  We’ve not been great about getting these suckers completed very early the past couple of years, so I’m delighted they are finished.  AND. we get money back!  YIPPIE!!
I’m loving that we got Cooper’s second haircut on Monday night and he’s looking like such a cute little man.  Even when he’s being a stinker.  DSC_0016
I’m loving how sweet my hubby was for Valentine’s day.  We aren’t big Valentine’s Day fans, but we exchanged cards, and he took me out to dinner and brought home my favorite ice cream!

I’m loving that I am going to be using my Mom’s 30% off at Kohl’s this weekend!  We hardly ever get 30%, so when it happens, we take advantage! Smile

Of course, I’m loving my sweet hubby and precious son!

Freezing!

I am freezing, cannot get warm and feel like I'm here:

{source}
It was -2 degrees Fahrenheit when I was driving to work this morning!  I knew it could get cold here in Indy, but I don't think I've experienced it being this cold before.  My drive to drop Cooper off at the babysitter is normally about 25 minutes, and I was just warming up when it was time to take him inside.  Thank goodness work isn't too far away, only about 5 more minutes and I got to get inside what I was hoping would be a *warm* building.

NO.SUCH.LUCK.

It's cold in here too!!  At this point, I'm ready to drive home, get in bed under lots of warm blankets and start hibernating.  I tell you, those bears are onto something there!

I hope you all have a warmer day than I'm having so far.   It's almost Friday!

What I'm Loving Wednesday

Today I'm linking up with Jamie for What I'm Loving Wednesday!  I just love Wednesdays, and I love this link up!  It is one day per week that I get to think of all of the wonderful things in my life and that I've seen and post about my "loves!" :)  Thanks Jamie!

I'm loving these Clarks shoes!  They look so comfy and I am all about comfy shoes!

Clarks Nikki Revere Dark Brown

I'm also loving these cute canvas flats from Target.  They are only $12.58, so the price is excellent too!  I think these are definitely more of a spring shoe, but hey, for $12.58, now's a great time to buy!
Mossimo Supply Co. Oceana Canvas Button Flats

While I was on a Target shopping kick, I have two more items I'm loving!

I'm loving this utility jacket, it's made if tshirt material and yet, looks super cute, so comfy and cute, two of my favorite things!
Merona Women's Utility Jacket

I'm also loving this chambray button up shirt.  I love the look of denim, but am not allowed to wear it Monday thru Thursday at work, this gives me the look without it being that material.  I think it will be super cute thrown together with some khaki pants!  What do you think?

Merona Sunwashed Chambray Heritage Utility Shirt

I'm loving that I beat my friend Erica in a Scrabble game the other day!  I am Cooper's M0M! :)  I haven't won against Erica in this game in a looooooooooong time, so I'm pretty delighted!

I'm loving that we're going to have a Girls Night In this Friday night.  Dinner and a movie are on the agenda, I cannot wait!  Should be a good crowd of girls to spend some quality time with!

Last, but certainly not least, I'm loving my husband and son.  The bring joy to my life in so many ways.

What are you loving on this Wednesday?  Happy Hump Day all!

Top Two Tuesday

Top 2 Things You've Learned About Blogging

1)  Type Posts Ahead of Time and Schedule Them. I think this is the best thing that I have learned.  I love being able to think up ideas and get them written and ready to go for when I haven't anything to say!

2)  Allow readers to read your full posts using an RSS/Google reader.  This has been a huge help to me.  I have had many folks tell me they enjoy reading blog posts this way, it's more convenient for them.

I cannot wait to read some of your tips! :)  Have a great Tuesday!

Like Father Like Son.....

This is not what I would have ever expected from my 16 month old.  Yep, take a closer look....

LOOKING....... ENJOYING.....

 MOVING IN A BIT CLOSER.......
 AND FINALLY...
. MUUUUUAAAAHHHHHH *BIG KISS*

There really are no words that I can say to express the delight my husband possesses everytime he sees these pictures and thinks back to that night.  He was such a proud Daddy.  The model according to Daddy was a dark skinned, dark haired beauty. Aye Yi Yi, I think I'm in for it big time when Cooper is a teenager....... Goodness!

My weekend

This weekend really was a big blur.....

Friday Night:  We drove south to stay at my mom's for the night, arrived just before 7 and sat down for dinner.  After that, It was time to put the Coop man down to sleep for the night.  The adults decided to settle down with some reruns of Everybody Loves Raymond, then off to bed for us!

Saturday:  My mom stayed up with Cooper when he woke up at 7am, (THANKS MAMA!) and she let me sleep!  UNTIL 9AM, I haven't done that in a long time.  I got showered, then Tim did, and we played with the little one for awhile.  Around 10:30, we ordered pizzas for the party that was about to start at noon.  My Aunt Sheila's birthday!  YAY!  There were about 20 adults, 8 children and we all had a great time!  I haven't had time to look at the pictures yet, but I'll post a few in my project 365 page in the next day or two.  After the party we packed up and headed back to Indianapolis.  Where we came back to 5+ INCHES OF SNOW!  That was on top of the 2-3 inches of ice remaining everywhere.  We barely made it up our driveway, and I had to snowblow in order for the van to make it into the driveway.  While I was at it, I snow blowed two of the neighbor's driveways and then unloaded the van while Tim watched the kiddo.  Other than my 4-5 falls on my face on the ice, it was a great release of pressure.  I knew you were wondering why I the lady of the house was doing all of this snow digging while my husband was in watching the baby.  BECAUSE I SO SO SO ENJOY IT!!!  After that we all played together until time for Cooper to go to sleep.

Sunday:  My dad and his ladyfriend Gwen made a trip up to visit.  We went to lunch and had a couple of stops on the way home.  Then home to enjoy some of the delicious chocolate chip cookies that I made this morning!  Cooper took a short nap and then dad and Gwen had to head home because it was already 5:30 and they had a 2+ hour drive!  We played with Cooper and then he had some dinner and hit the sack.  I walked on the treadmill, Tim and I are watching the Superbowl, (me only halfway), and then Tim went to try to break through some of the ice..... It's been a nightmare.  I'm hoping to hit the sack by 10:30, I'm EXHAUSTED.  It's been a LOOOOONG short weekend.  Anyone ever feel like that???  I need a day off from my days off!

Happy Superbowl Sunday, enjoy the rest of the game!

My Crazy Fun Little Man

Having a 16 month old son is such a joy!  I hope I can still say that when he is 16 years old!!! =)

Last night, he and I got home after work, and the little man was so cute, he just couldn't wait to do his daily chore.  I know what you're thinking, You gave a 16 month old chores???  Well, yes, and no.  He chooses this chore, because he loves doing it so much!

Cooper feeds our dog every night.  He goes to our laundry room door and pounds on it until we get him the dog food container.  He then pushes it into the kitchen where we feed Madison, and gets so anxious to feed her.  Tim or I fills up the cup halfway and he dumps the food into her bowl.  We do this about 3 or 4 times depending on how much food we put in the cup.  He laughs and giggles the entire time.

I have been meaning to take pictures of this nightly event, and I finally did last night.  I made a collage of it so here you are for your viewing pleasure!

Tonight the family is heading south to visit with my mom and her side of the family some tomorrow, then home tomorrow evening for my dad to visit on Sunday.  It should be a great weekend!!  Hope you all have a wonderful Super Bowl weekend!
