Baby Johnson: 33 weeks

Thirty-three weeks today.  Approximately 34 days until induction day;  22 more working days.  (Thank you MEMORIAL DAY & Weekends!)

I have approximately 9 days to get everything finished painted in Katy’s room.  I haven’t been in there in two weeks to paint.  So much for me getting it done in two weeks when I said that, what, about 3-4 weeks ago?!?  Oh well, this too shall pass.  BUT, I have to get it finished before May 5th.  That is the day that Andrew moves home from college for the summer – and right now his room is filled with Katy’s stuff.  Clothes, diapers, bottles, etc.  Anything and everything baby related is in his room right now.  I will get in that room and paint some tonight and tomorrow at the very least.  Three more colors – it shouldn’t be that bad, am I right?  AHHHHH!

I had my last endocrinologist appointment before baby is born this week.  She says everything is looking good with my sugars, except my blood pressure.  It was high, a little too high for her to ignore, so she made a call to my OB who then called me and talked to me about symptoms to watch out for and what to do if these things started happening (headaches, blurred vision, etc).    The nurse says that they do not want to put me on medicine right now, especially if my blood pressure is fine sometimes, which it has been.  So for now, I’m just status quo unless I start developing severe headaches that will not go away with Tylenol or eating, or until my vision starts bothering me.  So far so good on that front, it’s been 4 days and nothing so far.

Next week, on Monday, I have my last (I think) ultrasound, I start my twice weekly NSTs (Non-stress Tests aka kick count tests), and I see the doctor.  I had to do these with Cooper also.  Basically, since I am having the baby around 38 weeks (37 weeks 6 days), the last month of my pregnancy I go twice a week instead of once like most pregnant ladies do.  I see the doctor once per week, but both times, I have an NST.  Its painless, just takes some time (and is very annoying because I miss so much work and it feels like I spend my life in the doctors office).  I’m hoping for a good weight and good results at the ultrasound.  I also hope they can show me a 3D picture of her – as the other times she’s not been cooperative.  We’ll see how the sonographer feels that morning!

I’ve not really had any major food cravings this week.  I have wanted chips with queso more often, but I haven’t indulged this far.  Maybe tonight.

Sleep is getting more and more difficult.  It’s a combination of things.  Having to pee 3 times per night, still being a rotisserie chicken, a 3 year old who still has to be taken to the potty at midnight each night, and a very active Kathryn are my excuses.  Girl wakes me up kicking me so hard some nights!  It could be worse, and I know it won’t be any better when she gets here, so I’m just going to get as much as I can between now and then.

Here is the weekly comparison, I’m wearing the same shirt, not sure why the color looks so different, but I swear it’s the same.

Lastly, the weekly progression photo…..

Happy Friday to all, and Have a wonderful weekend!  I know I plan on it! J

Rain is a good thing.

Maybe I should blog.  That’s the thought that goes through my head at various times throughout the day.  I just feel like with all of the madness that is my life these days, I have nothing to blog about.

When in reality, I should probably be writing this stuff down to keep in my memory book for the future.

Back to the subject.  Rain is indeed a good thing for me these days.  If you’ve gotten as much rain around your parts as we’ve had in Indianapolis, you’ve had quite a lot.  So far, this is our third most rainiest April ever.   We’re only 0.4 of an inch of rain away from being the second wettest April, and I have no doubt that in the next week, we’ll get at least that much.

For me, rain is a GREAT thing – especially on days like yesterday.  The rain meant that Tim’s baseball game was canceled.  Which meant that he could join us for some after work/school fun at McDonalds before going to Cooper’s first preschool play!  We live too far away from his school to make it worth driving home then coming all the way back by 6:30, so my plan was to take him to a fairly close McDonalds that had a play place inside, let him down a cheeseburger and then play until it was time to head back to his school.  Thankfully Tim was there to help wrangle him in after the chaos that was the McDonalds play place!

Here’s a picture of them playing foosball – Cooper actually did pretty decent!

I plan to do an entire post with some pictures and videos of his play, so I won’t talk much more about it here, but it was great, he did so much better than I expected.

Other happenings over the last week/weekend – Steph and I did some freezer cooking last Saturday (another post to come on that), Cooper has been to swimming lessons and goes back tonight, and Tim and Cooper had lots of outdoor playtime last Sunday after church and naps (and Tim’s double header).  It has been a busy week so far!  We’ve got stuff to do nearly every night until next Thursday, so I’ll be happy for a much needed break by then!

It’s been raining here since yesterday afternoon, and we’re finally getting a short break in it right now.  I’m hoping against hope that the fields are too wet for a baseball game to happen tonight.  I would really love for Tim to go to swimming lessons with us and then I need his help around the house, we’re having carpets cleaned tomorrow!!!

Are your lives crazy too?  Do you have something going on every single night?!?!  Happy Wednesday all!

Baby Johnson: 32 Weeks

SIX.MORE.WEEKS.  Actually, make that six weeks from YESTERDAY.

This week, there haven’t been all that many pregnancy developments, so here is the news for the rest of the week.

Cooper is doing great with swimming lessons, I’m going to sign him up for lessons for May also.  I think it’ll be good for him and he seems to like it well enough.

We received the fabric for Katy’s curtains & bed skirt.  We’ve also gotten her crib sheets, dishwasher baskets for the bottles, a drying rack, her baby book, and lots of other little things that babies need.

Two of Tim’s games have been canceled this week, so he’s been home more this week – and I’m thankful for that.

I cannot think of anything else, so here’s the comparison picture.  With the help of a dear friend, I realized one reason I was not in the same shape with Cooper.  He was transverse.  Which means that he was laying sideways instead of up and down, I think this made me wider from the front instead of the way you can see it in the picture with Katy.  I’m not positive that’s the entire reason I’m such a house this time.  BUT, I’m going to use it as an excuse at least for now.

Last but not least, the weekly progression pictures as usual.

Finish the sentence with Holly & Jake

Of course since Holly and Jake are having another finish the sentence linkup, I have to join in on the fun!
button

1. I laughed so hard I cried when...  My hubby told me the poop story.  He also wrote about it here.  I highly recommend reading it.
2. My high school...  was small and very cliquey.
3. It really pisses me off... when I go out of my way for someone to do something for them and they barely even mutter a “thanks”
4. In ten years...  I hope to be in a different house, with my husband and my kids living happily ever after.
5. If I could erase one thing...  I would have gotten help for my postpartum depression after having Cooper – and I wouldn’t have been such a maniac.  So basically – I would erase my maternity leave and do it different.
6. In 1999...  I was a senior in high school/freshman in college.  Awesome times.
7. Honestly...  I dread breastfeeding/pumping.  Cooper never latched, so I pumped for 11 months.  I was attached to that machine – and I don’t know what to expect with this girl, and I dread pumping when I come back to work.  I know it’s the best thing for my child, so I will do it, but I will not pretend that I love it.
8. To me, Sushi... is only ok if there aren’t raw fish involved.  I LOVE the vegetarian ones that I’ve tried, just leave out the raw fish please.
9. Someone really needs to invent...  something to keep me from losing everything.  I swear I’d lose my butt if it weren’t attached.
10. The first time I drank alcohol...  I got dreadfully sick and puked a lot the next day.  You’d think that would have taught me a lesson about drinking so much.
11. The one question I would ask God is...  Why did you send your son for us?  I am amazed daily by his grace and his love for us.
12. Lindsay Lohan...  I have no words.

Well, that was short and sweet and fun!  Thanks for hosting again Holly & Jake!!

SO WHAT! Wednesday

So What Wednesday

Linking up with Shannon today for SO WHAT! Wednesday.

SO WHAT…. if I only blog once or twice week right now?  I’m crazy busy being a “single” mama, and I’m pushing some things aside for a good majority of the week (like folding clean laundry, house cleaning and blogging).

SO WHAT…. if I haven’t cooked a meal for dinner since Tim started baseball.  I’ve cooked stuff for lunches, that counts, right?

SO WHAT…. if I was jumping for joy that Tim’s game got canceled last night due to rain and I’m *hoping* his game tonight is rained out also???  Does that make me a bad wife?  I like when my child gets to see his father and on a more selfish note, I like to be able to rest a bit (or get caught up on some of that clean laundry.)

SO WHAT…. if Cooper is obsessed with Boston Crème Pie yogurt?  Yogurt is healthy, right?

SO WHAT…. if I am having a love/hate relationship with the RHOC so far this season.  I normally LOVE that show, and I still cannot wait for it to come on, but something doesn’t seem as fun about it yet this season.  I’m thinking next week should help – it looks pretty drama filled.

SO WHAT…. if I didn’t file my taxes this year until the Friday before they were due.  That is the LATEST that I’ve ever filed.  When you owe money it’s ok to file at the last minute, right?

SO WHAT…. if I’m ready for new shows to start again in the evenings.  This re-run stuff is driving me crazy.

SO WHAT…. if I end almost every one of these “so what’s” with “,right?”

That’s it for today.  Have a great Wednesday ladies!

Baby Johnson: 31 Weeks

31 Weeks!!  Woo hoo!!!  Getting closer and closer!  It’s going to be about 7 more weeks!
New this week:
  • Busy, busy, busy  with Cooper and being a single mommy.  BUT, we’re having lots of fun!
  • I had a doctor’s appointment on Monday – and we have tentatively scheduled my induction for May 30th.  That is one day before I’m 38 weeks.  My doctor wants me to deliver at 38 weeks because of my diabetes and since I have such great luck, she’s out of town starting May 31st  for a week, so obviously her delivering while on vacation wasn’t going to work, so she pushed it up a day or a few so that she could be the one to deliver.  That means she won’t be there when I’m in the hospital, but I’m ok with that, since my major concern is her delivering.  She was AMAZING during Cooper’s delivery – and she also delivered Kampbell, so I’m very insistent that she deliver this baby girl!!!
  • Katy’s heart rate on Monday was in the 130s, I haven’t looked it up or anything, but I don’t remember Cooper’s ever being that low.  I am hoping that’s just because she’s a girl.
  • She’s still been kicking me like crazy the last week or so, she kicks so hard during the night that she’s waking me up consistently.  I guess that’s not going to change.
  • My food consumption has been lower this week.  I think it’s because I’m running out of room for it.
  • Only two milkshakes this entire week.
  • Cravings have been for Subway Veggie Subs.  YUMMY!
  • Work in Kate’s room has been lacking since Sunday until last night.  I did work in there on Sunday for a couple of hours and last night for an hour and a half, and let me tell you, I am ready to be done with the painting.  I’ve still got at least one good days worth of work to do in there.  I’m hoping *really hoping* I can get it pretty much wrapped up this weekend.  Other than church on Sunday and Tim having a double header on Saturday morning, we have no plans.  For that, I am thankful.  Cooper was supposed to have a playdate with my friend Shannon’s little boy on Saturday, but he’s been sick this week, so we felt it best to keep Cooper home and not risk him getting sick.
I think that’s it for now!  Onto the comparison…..

My friend asked me to take a picture of me in the same shirt so she could really see how much bigger I am, so please forgive the quality of the next comparison pictures, because I took it this morning in a rush, and I didn't wear this shirt, so it was just taken for this picture in my messy bedroom...

Lastly, as usual – weekly progression pictures…..

Happy Weekend Everyone!

Single Mommy-hood

So, I’ve mentioned before that April & May are going to be me playing single mommy while my husband is off working his tail off umpiring.  Well, it has started.  I’m officially on day 3 of singly mommy life, with MANY more days to go.  Check out Tim’s umpiring calendar for the next two months:

So, you can see from the calendar he’s got games nightly Monday  - Friday and double headers almost every Saturday.  We get Sundays off, except May 19th, he has a double header on a SUNDAY, that’s not even been put on the calendar yet.

Now, I’m not complaining, (yet), I love that Tim gets to go and have fun doing something that he enjoys so much.  He makes a few extra dollars for us to put away for something special, and I get lots of quality time with Cooper.  This is especially important to me right now.  These are our last few weeks that Cooper will be an “only child” and I want to cherish every moment.  Even when he’s driving me crazy because he doesn’t want to get in the pool at swimming lessons.

I do miss my husband, but I know he’ll be back and that baseball season only lasts a few months. Some days – his games are pretty far away from our house – and since they start at 5:30 or so, and last a couple of hours, he’s not usually home before Coop has to go to bed (or me for that matter).  Thankfully, he has several games that are in the Indianapolis area and I can keep Cooper up until Daddy gets home, and then he and I can talk and get a few things done around the house after he gets home.  It sure makes life pretty busy, and I know that will make these last few weeks before Kathryn comes fly by.

I am keeping Cooper pretty busy too – he’s booked with Swimming lessons 2x per week through the May 2nd, and we’ll also attend some of daddy’s baseball games and watch him.  Other days we’ll grocery shop, go to the park, and play at home.  The house may go to pot – but we’ll catch up eventually!  One major bonus: I don’t have to cook at night!!!  When it’s just Cooper and I, we usually eat cereal, peanut butter & jelly, grilled cheese, breakfasts, etc.  Simple, easy, food.  Tim usually brings something for his dinners and has a salad or something when he gets home.  SCORE for not cooking for nearly 2 months straight!!!

I know I’m not the only mama out there playing single mom during baseball season.  Shelli joins me in this journey, are there others???  If so, how do you deal with running a house, taking care of children and dealing with everything when husband is gone constantly?!?  Cheers to a busy, Cooper filled couple of months!!!

Swim Lessons, Rotisserie Chicken, Birthdays and other stuff

I’ve been a little absent lately.  All due to the fact that I feel like I have nothing to blog about.  Now I have a nice lump of random stuff to blurt out and get out there in cyberspace.  This post is going to be loaded with pictures from the last couple of weeks, it’s going to be a long picture filled post.  Maybe it’ll get me back on track for blogging?  Let’s hope.  I miss my hobby.

Cooper started swimming lessons last night.  He was SO excited to go and couldn’t wait to get in the pool.  Then…. He didn’t get in.  He was the ONLY kid out of about 30 who didn’t get in.  I think it was all an act.  He will be getting in on Wednesday, the teacher is going to put him in, this kid drives me crazy, in the best ways though.

These picture is before the lessons started.  He would not even sit still for a picture, he was so pumped, so excited to put his goggles on and swim…..  If you’d have only gotten in kiddo….

That color is DONE in Kate’s room.  That pink color is the ONLY color that is finished out of the ELEVEN colors that I’m using, but it’s done.  And, you just got another sneak peek.  Cool huh?

Easter.  Family photo and then the two most precious kids in my world.   Tim and Cooper were exhausted from the activity filled day.  I cannot tell you how long it’s been since Cooper actually slept on one of us, it’s precious and I know it won’t happen very often anymore, so I had to capture it.

Like I said, precious.  I mean if you don’t smile when looking at this picture of Soup, I don’t know what would make you smile.  She’s great.  This is how she was when we were dying Easter eggs.  Happy girl.

I finally found the fabric for Kathryn’s curtains/bed skirt.  Now to order it and get it in and get busy sewing.  So excited to get that room finished.

Tim’s birthday was yesterday.  That’s the lopsided mint chocolate cake that I made him.  Recipe found here.  It’s delicious.  We went out to dinner on Saturday with Steph, Cooper, Andrew, Ryan and Soup.  It was good.  The restaurant was nice enough to let us bring the cake in.

This is me, every night in bed.  I turn constantly just like this fella.  The pregnancy pillow is helping, but I just cannot get comfortable for very long.

I saw this picture on instagram the other morning.  I want to do this for someone’s birthday someday.  I think it’s awesome.  Too bad it was too late to arrange it for Tim’s birthday yesterday.  Maybe for his 50th

Park time.  Cooper loves going to the playground and Sunday was a perfect day – so we went.  And he played his little heart out.  We went down the slide together, he swung on the swings, we played on the see saw, drove the fire truck and he ran around like a crazy kid.

I think that’s it for now.  Here’s to blogging more than once every two weeks!  Happy Tuesday everyone!

Baby Johnson: 30 Weeks

Oops!  It’s the first time I’ve posted ALL WEEK!   I’ve just been at a loss for words.  But I have to do my weekly baby update, even if it’s just short and sweet.    30 weeks down, eight or nine to go!  I have a doc appointment on Monday, so I’m hoping she’ll be able to tell me we can set the date for induction or at least tell me a good range, and what she’s thinking.

Updates this week:

I’ve worked every night painting in her room.  I’m officially finished with 1 of the approximately 10 colors, so that’s progress!  I’ve got paint on all of the last few walls, and I’m thinking it should be finished in 1-2 weeks at this pace.

Miss Kathryn has been kicking me like she’s fighting some battle in there.  My belly moves all over the place, sometimes it’s so powerful she wakes me up during the night.   The overnight kicks scare me, I need her to get off of that schedule, I don’t want her to be getting her days and nights all mixed up like her big brother did!

I’m feeling pretty good, other than how crazy tired I am.  I seriously am ready for a nap within two hours of getting up in the mornings.  I think it’s pretty nuts, and I know it won’t get any better until many months after she arrives.  I’ll deal.

No crazy cravings this week.  I’ve actually cut back on the amount of food I’ve been able to eat, she’s taking up so much room in there I don’t have that much room for food anymore.  That’s a positive thing and I’ll take it.

Next week starts single-mommy hood until baby makes her appearance….  Tim is going to be umpiring 6 days/week starting on Monday, with double headers on Saturdays, so Cooper and I will have lots of bonding time.

Cooper is starting swimming lessons next Monday as well, he’ll be doing that two days a week through the beginning of May.  I wanted to get the lessons in before the baby arrives.  I also wanted to give him the chance to do two months worth of lessons if I thought he needed it.  We’ll see how he does.

Onto the comparison picture…..  Everyone says I’m all belly and that my face is much thinner this time than with Cooper.  I’m not sure it’s all belly, but I like that it’s a possibility?!?

Last, but not least…

The weekly progression…

Have a wonderful weekend ladies!  To all of you ladies out there running the ½ marathon this weekend in STL, have fun and BE SAFE!  I’ll be rooting for you while teaching Sunday School!! J
