A bit of a scare.....

Tuesday night/Wednesday morning around midnight I woke up and had to go to the bathroom and found much blood when I finished. Tim rushed me to the hospital where they ran many tests, we were there until nearly 4am. They didn’t know what was making me bleed but we did hear baby’s heartbeat so they sent me home. I wasn’t in any pain so that was a blessing!

Wednesday morning when we finally woke up we called my OB and they said to get into the office as soon as I could, that they would do an ultrasound and see how the baby was. We got there within the hour and had the ultrasound done, baby appears to be doing just fine, heart-rate was good and everything else looked just perfect! I have a pocket of blood and they do not know why or how it happened. The doctor said it is nothing that I could have done to cause it. The doc told me to take it easy and have no physical activity, only stairs when I have to and no walking. I cannot even lift clothes out of the washer and put into the dryer. Cannot lift anything heavier than a gallon of milk. (Tim won’t even let me do that much.) Can't go to the grocery store because that is too much walking So I was at home laying down the past two days.

I decided I couldn’t take it anymore and came back to work today. The doc said that was fine as long as I sat most of the day and didn’t move around too much. I told her that I wouldn't - and she said as long as I took the elevator and Tim would drop me off at the front door, she was ok with me going back to work.

Tim has been so wonderful taking care of me. He is not letting me do anything - and is really watching over me. Thanks to God for sending me such a wonderful man!!! The kiddos are being quite good too, helping when I ask and bringing me stuff. I am so blessed to have such a great family!

I have an ultrasound to check on baby next Wednesday, so I will have more news by then at least. In the meantime, if you could send a few thoughts/prayers our way, we would really appreciate them!

The Weekend

Tim and I visited southern Indiana this past weekend to see my family. We hadn't been down for a weekend since Thanksgiving! Time sure flies! The weekend seemed to fly by, but they always do!

Friday night we had dinner with Dad, Grandpa, Kieran, Craig, Casey, Larissa and Layne. Then we visited awhile and headed out to Horseshoe Casino. Tim played blackjack for awhile and won a little bit of money. He had a good time, and by the time we left, I was exhausted, it was nearly midnight. I must also say, my little nephew, Layne - is so adorable! He sleeps non-stop it seems, but so so so so cute. I cannot wait for Baby Johnson to come! I keep reminding myself that it will be almost 6 more months before that happens...... 4 weeks until ultrasound to find out the baby's sex!!! I am officially 14 weeks and 4 days today.

Saturday we got up and went down to Bowles mattress company to search for a new bed for Andrew. When he moves downstairs to his new room we are going to get him a new bed, and we're thinking a full long. I had never heard of this - but it is like an extra long twin, only in a full size. Same length as a queen but the width of a full. We'll see though, that was only our first shopping trip. After that, headed to Sears to get Dad's new washer and dryer. We ate lunch and headed back to Dad's house. I took a nap while Dad and Tim talked and talked. It was such a pretty day that Dad wanted to take a ride, and I wanted to go and visit my mom so that is just what we did. Then to Grandpa & Kierans for pizza and brats & hotdogs. We had a good visit with them and Sharon, Jason & Stephen. Stephen got a new boxer puppy named Bowser, and he is so cute!!!

On Sunday, Dad, Craig, Casey, Larissa, Layne, Tim and I had breakfast and then we went to look at a house for sale. We want to look around down there in case we ever decide to move south. Then back to Dad's, I had another nap (gotta love naps!) and then it was time to head north. Made it home around 5 - just in time for me to spend the next 6 hours working on my MBA work.

Only one more class for this semester in my MBA, then May 12 - June 11 twice or three times a week and I'll be completely done!!! No more school ever again! (At least I hope)

Hi there! Week 13 still, tomorrow will be week 14. We went to the doctor yesterday, and we got to hear the heartbeat on the doppler! It was either 153 or 156 beats per minute. It was exciting! The old wives tale is that at that heart rate it will be a little girl. But we don't have to wait long to find out, because we'll find out at our next appointment! May 19th, 8:15am! Only 5 more weeks to wait and we'll get to see if we're having a precious little boy or little girl! We can't wait, but we know we have to!

Other than that, nothing much new - construction still in progress at our house, Tim put up the wall between the kitchen and Andrew's new room and there is still more stuff to do! We'll get there, slowly but surely!!

Week 13

I am now in week 13, and have made it through the first trimester!! I am still very tired but hope that that subsides very soon. We have a doctor visit on Tuesday, just the monthly check in with the OB. I hope we can hear the baby's heart beat with the doppler this time!

This week was Tim's birthday, he turned 43 on Wednesday April 8th. Tim, Stephanie, Andrew and I went out to Longhorn Steakhouse and then to DQ to get an ice cream cake for the birthday boy.

Last Friday, April 3, Layne Bryson Smith was born, a very pretty baby he is! This is Baby Johnson's cousin. My cousin Sherry's baby is due within the next couple of weeks and then Abby's will come in August, Erica's in September and Baby Johnson will arrive in October.

I have been busy with my MBA classes the past few weeks, I should be done with this final semester by May 1st - noon. Then I will have a break until May 11th, and then one quick month of classes and I'll be done! June 11th is the graduation banquet which wraps up the entire program!!

Big Sister Stephanie has been very busy lately with a new outreach group at school. She had planned to go to FL this summer but has changed her mind and we're glad to have here stay home.

Big Brother Andrew is busy with golf, every day after school and as much as he can on the weekends, he is playing today in a tournament for the golf team at school.

Daddy to be again is busy working around the house - I've got him busy with the "honey do list." He is re-arranging our room today so that I can easily go pee the token 3-4 times per night.

Think that is it for now. Will post more after the doctor appointment on Tuesday.

12 weeks

I am currently entering my 12th week of pregnancy. I am at doctor's offices more than I ever thought I could be, and know that this will only increase as time goes on!

Since I am diabetic, I am on insulin for this pregnancy and this is being monitored very closely by my diabetes doctor. My insulin needs could change from week to week and this is a new thing for me. The doctor started me on insulin when we told her that we wanted a baby. The pills I was taking cannot be taken during pregnancy. So, I had gotten pretty used to being on the same dosages of insulin and that not varying much. Now, every week something seems to change. The last few weeks, I have been on less insulin now than I was before I got pregnant. This seems strange to me. Things are going great in this area and my doctor is very pleased with my progress thus far. I visit this doctor every month – as well as have blood drawn for her monthly, so this is 2 doctor trips per month just for the diabetes.

My OB sees me once per month, which is normal. I have had 2 ultrasounds so far, and will post those pictures as soon as I can figure out the scanner at home.

Other than seeing the doctor a lot, so far, things have been going well. I have not been “morning sick” and other than a couple of times where food smells have gotten to me, I have been feeling well. TIRED, but doing well.
